Terms of Service

Last updated: July 5, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Bricknote ("we", "us"), identified under Contact at the end of this page. They govern your use of Bricknote - by creating an account or using the service you accept them.

The service

Bricknote is a note-taking app: a block-based editor with projects, templates, search, and shared workspaces. You sign in with an email link or with Google - there is no password to manage, so keeping access to your email account is your responsibility. You must be at least 16 years old to use Bricknote.

Your content

Everything you write in Bricknote stays yours. You grant us only the limited license we need to operate the service: to store, back up, transmit, and display your content to you and to the people you share a workspace with. We do not sell your content, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. You can export all of your content from your account settings at any time.

You're responsible for the content you put into Bricknote: you confirm you have the right to store and share it, and that it doesn't break the law or infringe anyone else's rights. If a third-party claim arises from content you stored or from your misuse of the service, you agree to cover the reasonable costs it causes us, to the extent the law allows - except where you are a consumer and the law limits this.

Business and team data

If you use a shared workspace to store personal data about other people as part of a business, you are the controller of that data and we act as your processor for it. We will enter into a data processing agreement on request - just contact [email protected].

Acceptable use

Use Bricknote lawfully. Don't attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other people's data, distribute malware, send spam through workspace invitations, or store content that is illegal to store. We may suspend accounts that violate these rules, contacting you first where practicable.

Plans and billing

Bricknote offers a free plan and paid subscriptions - current plans and what they include are described on the pricing page. Purchases are processed by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd / Paddle.com Inc.) as our merchant of record - Paddle is the seller of record for your subscription, and Paddle's checkout terms apply to the purchase. Where a free trial is offered, it ends without charge unless you choose to subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.

Cancellation and termination

You can cancel a subscription at any time from your billing settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and stops future charges - see the Refund Policy for refunds. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings (export your notes first). We may terminate or suspend accounts for material breach of these terms; if a paid plan lapses, paid features stop but your content remains available for you to read and export.

Service availability and discontinuation

We work to keep Bricknote available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, add, or remove features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. We may also discontinue Bricknote entirely. If we decide to shut the service down, we will give you reasonable advance notice by email, keep export available throughout that notice period, and refund the unused portion of any prepaid subscription (issued by Paddle to your original payment method). Free accounts may be closed with notice at no charge.

Disclaimers and liability

Bricknote is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including our liability for intent or gross negligence. If you are a consumer in the EU, your statutory rights and guarantees are not affected by anything in this section.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer-law provisions of the country you live in, and you may bring disputes before the courts or out-of-court dispute resolution bodies of that country.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. If a change is material, we will notify you by email before it takes effect; continued use of Bricknote after that means you accept the updated terms.

General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. You may not transfer your account or these terms to someone else without our consent. We may transfer these terms to a successor - for example, if the business is sold or reorganized - on notice to you, without reducing your rights. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between us about Bricknote. Neither of us is liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
